PoliticsMontgomery County has been a slightly Democratic-leaning swing county since the Civil War. After voting consistently Democratic in presidential elections from 1992 to 2012, Republican Donald Trump narrowly defeated Democrat Hillary Clinton in the county in 2016. The last Democrat to win the county by double digits was Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964, while the last Republican to do so was George H. W. Bush in 1988.{{PresHead|place=Montgomery County, Ohio|source=WEB,weblink Dave Leip's Atlas of U.S. Presidential Elections, David, Leip, uselectionatlas.org, April 3, 2018, }}{{PresRow|2020|Democratic|129,034|135,064|5,066|Ohio}}{{PresRow|2016|Republican|123,909|122,016|13,951|Ohio}}{{PresRow|2012|Democratic|124,841|137,139|4,727|Ohio}}{{PresRow|2008|Democratic|128,679|145,997|4,355|Ohio}}{{PresRow|2004|Democratic|138,371|142,997|1,216|Ohio}}{{PresRow|2000|Democratic|109,792|114,597|6,598|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1996|Democratic|95,391|115,469|20,097|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1992|Democratic|104,751|108,017|48,952|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1988|Republican|131,596|95,737|1,610|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1984|Republican|137,053|94,016|1,333|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1980|Democratic|101,443|105,110|16,456|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1976|Democratic|100,223|106,468|4,745|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1972|Republican|120,998|82,231|5,323|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1968|Democratic|84,766|96,082|26,272|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1964|Democratic|71,979|126,633|0|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1960|Republican|109,602|98,325|0|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1956|Republican|107,278|76,270|0|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1952|Republican|91,905|79,860|0|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1948|Democratic|60,048|76,879|1,187|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1944|Democratic|63,336|82,367|0|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1940|Democratic|57,866|86,084|0|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1936|Democratic|44,742|76,430|6,606|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1932|Democratic|49,267|51,270|5,180|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1928|Republican|71,279|38,517|665|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1924|Republican|50,845|21,860|8,505|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1920|Republican|46,493|38,433|5,049|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1916|Democratic|19,683|24,339|2,853|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1912|Democratic|10,341|15,544|13,653|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1908|Democratic|20,069|20,566|1,980|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1904|Republican|22,144|13,933|1,648|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1900|Republican|19,606|16,236|772|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1896|Republican|18,333|15,540|359|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1892|Democratic|13,197|14,067|888|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1888|Democratic|12,491|13,142|451|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1884|Republican|11,524|11,326|143|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1880|Democratic|9,726|10,332|89|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1876|Democratic|7,921|8,971|27|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1872|Democratic|6,998|7,183|50|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1868|Republican|6,502|6,113|0|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1864|Republican|5,554|5,291|0|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1860|Republican|4,974|4,710|251|Ohio}}{{PresRow|1856|Democratic|4,038|4,285|391|Ohio}} |
