It took place in Vienna, Austria, following the country's victory at the {{Escyr|2014||2014 contest}} with the song "Rise Like a Phoenix" by Conchita Wurst. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (ORF), the contest was held at the Hall D of the Wiener Stadthalle and consisted of two semi-finals on 19 and 21 May, and a final on 23 May 2015. The three live shows were presented by Austrian television presenters Mirjam Weichselbraun, Alice Tumler and Arabella Kiesbauer, while the previous edition's winner Conchita Wurst acted as the green room host.Forty countries participated in the contest, with {{Esccnty|Australia}} making a guest appearance.{{Esccnty|Cyprus}} and {{Esccnty|Serbia}} returned, after their one-year absence, while the {{Esccnty|Czech Republic}} returned after their last participation in {{Escyr|2009}}. Meanwhile, {{Esccnty|Ukraine}} announced their non-participation due to financial and political crises related to the Russo-Ukrainian War.The winner was {{Esccnty|Sweden}} with the song "Heroes", performed by MÃ¥ns Zelmerlöw and written by Anton Malmberg HÃ¥rd af Segerstad, Joy Deb and Linnea Deb. This was the country's second win in three years, having also won in 2012. Sweden won the jury vote and had the highest combined points, but placed third in the televote behind Italy and Russia. Overall the latter two countries placed third and second respectively, and Belgium and Australia rounded out the top five. Further down the table, Montenegro achieved its best result since its independence, finishing thirteenth.For the first time, the top four of the contest all scored 200 points or better. Russia's entry "A Million Voices" became the first non-winning Eurovision song to score over 300 points. {{Esccnty|Austria}} and {{Esccnty|Germany}} became the first countries since {{Escyr|2003}} to score no points in the final, with Austria also becoming the first (and to date, only) host country to fail to score a point.The EBU reported that over 197 million viewers worldwide watched the contest, beating the 2014 viewing figures by 2 million.

Invitation of Australia

On 10 February 2015, the EBU announced that in honour of the 60th anniversary of Eurovision, it had invited {{Esccnty|Australia}} to participate in the final of the contest, represented by Special Broadcasting Service (SBS). SBS had been a long-time broadcaster of the event, which has had a large following in Australia. The Australian entry was placed directly in the grand final. Although it was considered a one-off event, if Australia were to win, SBS would have co-hosted the 2016 contest in a European host city of its choice. The EBU considered the possibility of similarly inviting countries to participate in future editions of the contest. Australia's participation brought the number of the finalists up to 27, the highest number of entries in a final in the contest's history.NEWS, Eurovision Song Contest invites Australia to join 'world's biggest party',weblink 10 February 2015, The Guardian, 10 February 2015, 5 July 2015,weblink live,

Final

As in the 2014 contest, the winner was announced as soon as it was mathematically impossible to catch up. In this case, the winner had been determined by the 36th vote, which came from Cyprus. 27 countries participated in the final, the highest number in any final of Eurovision ever.{{Legend|gold|Winner}}{| class="sortable wikitable plainrowheaders"weblink European Broadcasting Union, 22 May 2015, 10 October 2015,weblink" title="web.archive.org/web/20151010213334weblink">weblink live, WEB, Grand Final of Vienna 2015,weblink European Broadcasting Union, 28 March 2021,weblink 28 March 2021, live, ! scope="col" | {{abbr|R/O|Running order}}! scope="col" | Country! scope="col" | Artist! scope="col" | Song! scope="col" | Points! scope="col" | Place! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 1Slovenia|y=2015}}| MaraayaHere for You (Maraaya song)>Here for You"| 39| 14! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 2France|y=2015}}! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 3Israel|y=2015}}Golden Boy (Nadav Guedj song)>Golden Boy"| 97| 9! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 4Estonia|y=2015}}Stig RästaGoodbye to Yesterday (Elina Born and Stig Rästa song)>Goodbye to Yesterday"| 106| 7! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 5United Kingdom|y=2015}}| Electro VelvetStill in Love with You (Electro Velvet song)>Still in Love with You"| 5| 24! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 6Armenia|y=2015}}Genealogy (band)>Genealogy| "Face the Shadow"| 34| 16! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 7Lithuania|y=2015}}Vaidas Baumila| "This Time"| 30| 18! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 8Serbia|y=2015}}! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" style="text-align:center;" | 9Norway|y=2015}}Kjetil Mørland>Mørland and Debrah Scarlett| "A Monster Like Me"| 102| 8 style="font-weight:bold; background:gold;"! scope="row" style="text-align:center; font-weight:bold; background:gold;" | 10Sweden|y=2015}}Heroes (Måns Zelmerlöw song)>Heroes"| 365| 1! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 11Cyprus|y=2015}}! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 12Australia|y=2015}}Tonight Again"| 196| 5! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 13Belgium|y=2015}}Rhythm Inside (Loïc Nottet song)>Rhythm Inside"| 217| 4! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 14Austria|y=2015}}I Am Yours (song)>I Am Yours"| 0| 26! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 15Greece|y=2015}}! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 16Montenegro|y=2015}}Knez (singer)>Knez! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 17Germany|y=2015}}| Ann SophieBlack Smoke (song)>Black Smoke"| 0| 27! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 18Poland|y=2015}}In the Name of Love (Monika Kuszyńska song)>In the Name of Love"| 10| 23! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 19Latvia|y=2015}}Aminata Savadogo>Aminata| "Love Injected"| 186| 6! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 20Romania|y=2015}}| Voltaj! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 21Spain|y=2015}}| Edurne! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 22Hungary|y=2015}}| Boggie| "Wars for Nothing"| 19| 20! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 23Georgia|y=2015}}Warrior (Nina Sublatti song)>Warrior"| 51| 11! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 24Azerbaijan|y=2015}}! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 25Russia|y=2015}}A Million Voices (song)>A Million Voices"| 303| 2! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 26Albania|y=2015}}I'm Alive (Elhaida Dani song)>I'm Alive"| 34| 17! scope="row" style="text-align:center;" | 27Italy|y=2015}}
