Criticism

In recent years, Bangla Academy has been widely criticized for allowing different organizations to arrange events in English and denigrating Bengali in the premise of Bangla Academy, which is a violation of visions of the institution.NEWS,opinion.bdnews24.com/bangla/archives/54577, bn:’ঢাকা লিট ফেস্ট’-এর পৃষ্ঠপোষকতা ও ইংরেজিকে ‘লিডিং’ অবস্থানে নিয়ে যাওয়ার ব্যবস্থা!, 12 November 2018, bdnews24.com, Opinion, bn, 2018-12-20, 20 December 2018,web.archive.org/web/20181220033845/https://opinion.bdnews24.com/bangla/archives/54577, dead, “The Academy has misused a lot of funds in producing useless books, books that are unoriginal,” opines Salimullah Khan.MAGAZINE,archive.thedailystar.net/magazine/2004/02/02/coverstory.htm, Losing Sight of Priorities, Star Magazine, The Daily Star, 2019-02-04, 12 April 2018,archive.thedailystar.net/magazine/2004/02/02/coverstory.htm," title="web.archive.org/web/20180412062135archive.thedailystar.net/magazine/2004/02/02/coverstory.htm,">web.archive.org/web/20180412062135archive.thedailystar.net/magazine/2004/02/02/coverstory.htm, dead, Khan is of the opinion that the academy is short on original publications long on dross. He believes that both in research and in the field of creative writing, originality must be given priority. He also adds that most of the problems lie in the process of selection. The selection process the crucial decision to ditch one manuscript to pick another that will be added to the long list of academy publications, is faulty and in dire need of revision.
