Early life and education

Helfgott was born on 25 November 1977 in Lima, Peru.Random Curves: Journeys of a Mathematician He graduated from Brandeis University in 1998 (BA, summa cum laude). Career

Helfgott was a post-doctoral Gibbs Assistant Professor at Yale University from 2003 to 2004. He was then a post-doctoral fellow at CRM–ISM–Université de Montréal from 2004 to 2006.Helfgott was a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and then Reader at the University of Bristol from 2006 to 2011. He has been a researcher at the CNRS since 2010, initially as a chargé de recherche première classe at the École normale supérieure before becoming a directeur de recherche deuxième classe at the Institut Mathématique de Jussieu in 2014. Research
