M.R.M. Parrott celebrates 20 Years of “rimric press”
RIMRIC / CHARLESTON, SC (12 November, 2017)
M.R.M. Parrott, who is writing new work to be set in Charleston, founded rimric corporation on 12 November 1997 in Columbia, South Carolina. Using the imprint “rimric press”, the first publishing project was the hardback edition of Parrott’s sixth book, his “beach” novella, To Lie Within the Moment (1998). Parrott also worked to have rimric press listed with other small presses in a then ground-breaking extended title database from Barnes & Noble, and he went on a regional Barnes & Noble book tour during 1998-99.
“There were a lot of lessons in a short time,” Parrott says, today a resident of Charleston, South Carolina. “I’d taken on the challenges of forming a business, editing my own work, designing the book, marketing myself and the book, and also touring. I made mistakes, honed skills, and put what I learned into other projects over the years.” Projects that followed for rimric press included the 2001-2004 newsprint and online magazine, rimric folio, a 2002 omnibus e-book publication of Parrott’s then complete unpublished works, and a second paper-bound release, Parrott’s tenth book as written, the spy thriller novel, Timeless: Book I. As publishers responded to the rise of digital publishing, M.R.M. Parrott’s rimric press has remained focused on digital editions of his now 18 books, all released for Nook and Kindle.
“I’m often asked if I’m working on a new book,” Parrott adds. “I’ve been working on a new set of novels set in Charleston, and a second music album. I’m also encouraged to produce and read audio editions of all my works, as the book market shifts once again.”
M.R.M. Parrott’s books include the novel trilogy “Timeless”, a novella, “To Lie Within the Moment”, Philosophy and Science series “Dynamism”, travelogue “Driving Home”, monographs in Philosophy, and chapbooks of poems and short stories. His design and programming includes rimric.com and GetWiki.net, and numerous dynamic websites and print media for clients.
